You want to register your child? Then phone us or send an email. We’ll guide you through the whole registration process. With individual discussions, a clarification of your child’s readiness for school and an info evening on the topic of school fees. So that you are optimally informed and prepared.
If you are interested in our school you are warmly invited to our info evening in January which includes a tour of the school. First there is a presentation about the school. Then you are given a tour of the arts and craft rooms, the classrooms and the school dining room.
After the spring holidays the admission committee invites your child to a lesson with a total of 7 children participating. There your children will be given tasks and exercises designed to clarify what they have already mastered. After the lesson the teachers who were at the lesson will discuss your child’s readiness for school with you. The basis is observations made during the lesson, the kindergarten teacher’s report and a discussion with you as parents. If your child’s readiness for school is not completely clear we consult our school doctor. We usually send you the admission decision within 10 days and charge CHF 100 for the admissions process.
If you don’t already have children at our school, we invite you to a parent’s meeting on finance following the pedagogic admission. Representatives from our parents’ contributions committee will guide you through the evening. The topic is the school fees which finance the school. You will also get a contribution agreement. Upon conclusion of the contribution agreement your child will be admitted, although there is a 6-month trial period.
We allocate the children who have been accepted to the two classes of Year 1. Children from the same kindergarten usually stay together. However, sometimes we have to split the kindergarten groups. The allocation of teachers to the two classes is arranged by drawing lots at the teachers’ conference at the beginning of June. After that we inform you in writing about the name of the class teacher and the first day at school.
The first parent’s meeting for classes 1a and 1b is held in June. The parents of both classes start the evening together and then separate into their children’s classes. The future class teachers introduce themselves, the first day of school is discussed and the parent’s meet. So you are well prepared for the new school year.
We celebrate the first day of school with you and your child in our assembly hall. Then the children go off to their first lesson while you and the other parents are invited to join us for coffee and cakes.
Ask us any questions you may have in a non-binding introductory meeting. Just phone us up to arrange an appointment with an experienced class teacher. If interested, at the end of the meeting you will be given registration documents and you can organize a trial week for your child.
After the introductory meeting you can register via the school secretary’s office on 061 331 62 50 or info(at)steinerschule-basel.ch. You fill out the registration form and pay a fee of CHF 50. We require the registration so your child can try out the class.
Your child is already at a state or private school but wants to change? We offer a tryout week so your child can get to know the prospective class and teacher. You can arrange the tryout week after the introductory meeting.
