If you want a play group where the focus is really on playing, then the “Swallow’s nest” is just what you’re looking for. Your children will have plenty of time here for free play, guided movement games and puppet performances. Pay us a visit at Löwenbergstrasse 6h and see for yourself. You’ll be given a warm welcome.

What we offer

Arrival time – The morning begins and the children arrive between 8:15 and 9 a.m. The children who arrive early start playing or just take their time settling in.

Free play – The playgroup transforms into a world full of fantasy. There are wooden crates, pegs and building blocks, a toy kitchen with pots and pans and natural materials such as bark, pine cones and kernels to play with. Rag dolls lie in little beds and pieces of cloth are there for dressing up. The furniture can be turned into a slide or a railway. In the garden there is a sandpit and lots of branches for more ambitious building projects. At the end of the free play time we all clear up together.

Movement games – The children gather together and the playgroup leader starts a musical movement game. In summer the grain ripens and is threshed. In autumn the squirrel collects nuts. In winter the children build a snowman. And in spring the rabbits hop through the grass to rhythms and rhymes. The movement game reflects the season and unlike free play is led.

Morning snack– We have fruit, vegetables and home-baked bread. With warm herbal tea. After they have washed their hands the children gather round the table and enjoy seasonal fruit. And they learn to sit quietly. This is no easy matter for small children.

Arts and crafts – The children draw with wax crayons or water colors, tap out the rhythm of verses and songs on tone-wood blocks and move their hands in finger games.

Storytelling and farewells – At the end of the morning the children gather round in a semi-circle. The playgroup leader acts out a story moving around little puppets or dolls. Then we bid the children farewell and wish them a safe journey home. A morning full of experiences comes to an end.

Children attend our playgroup from the age of 2 until they start kindergarten.

You can stay with your child for a while when they first start at the playgroup. The length of the settling-in period is arranged individually for each child.

Our three annual parents’ meetings cover topics regarding education at the preschool level in general as well as what is going on in the Schwalbenäscht playgroup.

We are always happy to arrange an appointment to discuss your child’s development with you. We also hold a final meeting at the end of their time at the playgroup.
